Trading

Trading safely

Vendr helps two collectors agree a trade and finish it so that neither side can quietly back out. The trade itself stays between the two of you: Vendr never holds money, cards or parcels.

How a trade works

Trading needs a free account. Accounts are for people aged 16 and over.

  1. Find a match

Browse trade binders, or let Vendr tell you when someone’s trade binder has a card from your wants.

  2. Make an offer

Pick cards from both sides and add cash if you need to. Vendr shows what each side is worth, so you can both see whether it’s fair.

  3. Agree

Counter until you’re both happy. Every version is kept, and the trade has its own chat with photos.

  4. Finish

By mail or in person. Accepting an offer is a commitment from both of you.

By mail

Finishing a trade by mail

  1. Ship within 5 days

After accepting, each of you ships within 5 days and marks it in the app, ideally with a tracking number.

  2. Confirm what arrived

When the other person’s cards arrive, confirm they’re as agreed, or report a problem.

  3. Done

If you do neither, your receipt confirms itself 14 days after the other person marked their cards as shipped.

Nobody can back out after the other side has shipped

Backing out is possible only before anything has been shipped, and only if the other person agrees. Once cards are on their way, the trade can’t be cancelled: report a problem instead.

If one of you doesn’t ship by the deadline after the other did, the trade can be marked as not completed, and that shows on the profile of the person who didn’t deliver.

Mail trades are for adults: before one starts, both of you confirm you’re 18 or over.

In person

Finishing a trade in person

Meet, check the cards, then finish the trade together in the app.

  1. One of you shows a swap code

A six-digit code, with its QR code, made for this trade.

  2. The other scans it or types it in

That completes the trade on both phones at once.

A code works once and expires after 10 minutes. After five wrong tries it stops working, and you can simply make a new one.

If something goes wrong

Report it, and a person looks at it

The cards didn’t arrive, they’re not as described, they’re damaged or fake, or the other person didn’t turn up: open the trade and tap “Report a problem”.

The trade pauses

Nothing confirms or completes on its own while Vendr looks. The other person is told about the report.

Moderators decide

Vendr’s moderators review the offer, the shipping status and your chat, and may ask for photos of the cards and packaging. They decide how the trade shows on both records: completed, not completed (and by whom), or cancelled.

Accounts that break the rules

Moderators can remove content, limit features, or suspend or close an account. Vendr tells the person what it did and why, and they can ask for another look.

What Vendr can’t do

Vendr isn’t a party to your trade and never holds cards or money, so it can’t recover them. Keep the conversation in the trade chat and photos of what you send: that’s what moderators look at.

Rules

The rules, in short

Everyone on Vendr agrees to the community rules in the terms of use.

  • Describe cards honestly, including condition, language and any damage.
  • No fake, counterfeit or proxy cards offered as real.
  • No scams, no ghosting after accepting, and no asking to be paid outside what you agreed.
  • No harassment, threats, insults, or hateful, sexual or violent content.
  • Use someone’s address only for the trade it was given for.
  • Photos in a trade are of the cards or the parcel, nothing else.
  • One account per person. Accounts are for people 16 and over, and mail trades for 18 and over.
  • Reviews are honest and about the trade.

Reviews

After a trade, each of you can review the other. Profiles show completed trades, reviews from trading partners, and trades not completed.

Reporting

Report a profile, offer, message or shop from the app, including anything you believe is illegal. Moderators review every report.

Blocking

Someone you block sees nothing of yours and can’t contact you.

Tips

Tips for a good trade

Check the profile

Look at completed trades, reviews, and trades not completed before you accept.

Use tracked shipping

For anything you’d be upset to lose, send it tracked and add the tracking number in the app.

Photograph the parcel

Take pictures of the cards and the packed parcel before it goes, and keep them until the trade is complete.

Pack it properly

Sleeve and toploader each card, and pack them so they can’t move or bend.

Meet somewhere public

For in-person trades, a card shop, a show or a busy café is better than a doorstep.

Keep it in the chat

Agree the details in the trade chat. If something feels wrong, don’t ship: report it.
